Dr. Laurie Birkholz, MD, NCMP

  • Dr. Laurie Birkholz is the founder of Laurie Birkholz MD & Associates. She is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and fellowship-trained Women’s Health Specialist with over 20 years of experience in primary care and women’s health. She provides comprehensive care with a focus on lifestyle medicine, prevention, and whole-person health.

    Her clinical interests include menopause management, sexual health, and gynecologic care. She is dedicated to helping patients navigate midlife health transitions with clarity, confidence, and evidence-based treatment.

    Dr. Birkholz believes that knowledge empowers patients to take an active role in their health. She strives to create a supportive, inclusive environment where compassionate, evidence-based care is delivered to all patients.

    Professional Background

    Dr. Birkholz earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed her residency and fellowship training at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee and the Aurora Women’s Pavilion in West Allis, Wisconsin.

    She has been in practice since 2006 and founded Laurie Birkholz MD & Associates in 2020, a Ms.Medicine concierge primary care practice focused on comprehensive, gender-specific primary care and office gynecology.

    Dr. Birkholz lectures extensively on women’s health topics including menopausal medicine, sexual medicine, and cancer survivorship for both consumer and physician audiences.

    In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Birkholz serves as Associate Medical Director for Ms.Medicine, a national healthcare organization dedicated to advancing women’s health through innovation in care delivery, clinician education, and consumer advocacy.

    Prior to founding Laurie Birkholz MD & Associates, Dr. Birkholz served as Medical Director of Women’s Health for both the Aurora Women’s Pavilion in West Allis, Wisconsin and Holland Hospital in Holland, Michigan.

Angela burch, pa-c, MSCP

  • Angela Burch is a certified physician’s assistant with experience in internal medicine and pediatric care. 

    Angela brings two decades of experience to Laurie Birkholz MD & Associates and has special interest in helping patients with healthy weight management, holding advanced certification in Obesity Medicine and Menopause management. She has worked in the Holland community since 2006, and as a primary care provider, she has recognized the value in developing lifelong relationships with patients and their families that allow her to motivate and inspire a healthy and fulfilled life while working together to set achievable goals.
    Angela and her husband Brian live in Holland with their three children. She volunteers with Hospice of Holland and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Parish. In her free time Angela enjoys ballroom dancing, strength training, baking, reading and camping.

Anna Spoelhof MSN, RN, FNP-C, Aesthetic injector

  • Anna is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with experience in family medicine since 2018 and has a special interest in women’s health, treating mental health disorders and aesthetic skin care. She also served as a registered nurse in various specialties, including neonatal intensive care and urgent care. Anna believes in empowering people through all walks of life and enjoys building long-term relationships with patients to establish their healthcare needs. She is passionate about travel and spending time outdoors with her husband, Jon, and two sons.

Anely Perez, Medical Aesthetician

  • Anely is a certified medical esthetician and dermatologist with more than 20 years of experience in clinical and aesthetic dermatology in her home country, where she owned and operated her own clinic. She is also an International Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (IFAAD), which helps her stay current through conferences and continuing education courses. She enjoys discovering new skincare products, brands, and ingredients that support healthy, radiant skin.

    Outside of work, she enjoys reading, going to the gym, gardening, appreciating birds and nature, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Lori Schermers, Registered dietitian

  • A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with more than 35 years of experience helping individuals build healthier relationships with food and their bodies.

    She combines evidence-based nutrition counseling with a mindfulness-based coaching approach, guiding clients through self-compassion, practical meal strategies, and sustainable lifestyle changes.

    Lori is passionate about supporting clients as they work toward their personal nutrition goals while recognizing the very real challenges that can make those goals difficult to achieve. She believes that lasting change begins with compassion, understanding, and individualized support.

    Outside of work, Lori enjoys spending time outdoors and is currently working on improving her golf game. She loves hiking and climbing the stairs at Sanctuary Woods, especially when surrounded by nature. Visiting America's National Parks is a longtime goal of hers, and she has explored 15 so far, with plans to visit Yosemite National Park this September. She also values spending meaningful time with family and friends and makes connection a priority in her life.

Brianna Koehn, Medical Assistant

  • Bri graduated from Calvin University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy and Psychology.

    Early in her career, she worked with children and adults with both physical and mental disabilities, which helped build her passion for patient-centered care. She later transitioned into psychiatric care and continued developing her clinical skills through experience in both emergency room and urgent care settings before joining the practice, where she has now been for the past four years.

    What she enjoys most about healthcare is building relationships with patients and helping people feel supported during difficult moments.

    Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs, staying active, and finding opportunities to relax and recharge while enjoying the beauty of the state they call home.

Ari Peterson, Medical Assistant

  • Ari graduated from Hope College in 2023 and has been working in dermatology for the last three years in both Chicago and Michigan.

    Her experience as a medical assistant in dermatology practices has strengthened her passion for patient care and helping people feel comfortable, confident, and supported throughout their experience in the office.

    Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and staying active through running, cycling, swimming, rock climbing, and yoga. She also loves to cook and bake.

Madison Holloway, Medical Receptionist

  • Madison completed an internship after college with a physical therapy and strength & conditioning coach. She has also worked as a home health aide and assistant soccer coach, experiences that helped shape her passion for supporting others and creating positive experiences in healthcare settings.

    She strives to make each patient’s experience in the office feel smooth, welcoming, and supported, and hopes to brighten people’s days through small moments of connection, conversation, and kindness at the front desk.

    Outside of work, Madison enjoys weightlifting, biking, exploring the outdoors, cooking, and playing soccer for Tulip City United.

Nicole eardley, Practice Manager

  • Nicole was born and raised in West Michigan and earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and Psychology from Michigan State University.

    Before joining LBMD & Associates, she spent 12 years working in healthcare, including her time with Holland Hospital.

    As Practice Manager, Nicole enjoys helping create a positive experience for both patients and staff while supporting the day-to-day operations that keep the practice running smoothly.

    Nicole appreciates being part of a healthcare team that prioritizes relationships, personalized care, and exceptional service. She enjoys helping patients feel welcomed and supported from their very first interaction with the practice.

    Outside of work, Nicole enjoys spending time with her three children and family dog. Whether it's visiting water parks, casual bike rides, or finding ways to "feel the zeel" around West Michigan, she loves making memories with her family. She's also a fan of smoothies, good coffee, and hot yoga.

Jen Doornbos, Marketing director

  • Jen has spent her career connecting people, building community, and bringing stories to life through photography, content creation, and digital marketing.

    At LBMD & Associates, Jen helps tell the story behind a practice that believes healthcare should be personal, educational, and centered on genuine relationships. She enjoys connecting patients with resources, information, and providers who truly take the time to care.

    Outside of work, you'll find Jen on a soccer field, at Lake Michigan, or spending time with her two children and their puffy cat.
